HAPPY HOLIDAYS & 2013

Happy holidays everyone! For some reason I have been so unmotivated to post this past week. Perhaps it's 2012 coming to an end. It was a rough year to say the least and looking back on everything that has happened it seems impossible it was all in just one year. My diamond in the rough was starting this blog. Blogging can sometimes feel overwhelming and be time consuming, but finding things that inspire me and bring me happiness is rewarding. I look forward to continuing to share with you my discoveries and improving Glitter & Pixels. Thank you for following along and I will see you next year!

HOMELAND INSPIRED RECORD COVERS

I'm literally obsesssed with Homeland. I went from being skeptical about watching it to watching the entire first two seasons in about two weeks. Enough said. If you don't watch this, you are really missing out! Needless to say, pretty much anything based on Homeland is right up my alley. These Homeland inspired vintage covers by Ty Mattson are so awesome. Vintage, design, and Homeland all in one, I think I'm in love. He created twelve covers (see more here), these are my four favorite. Such a cool project! 

MISCELLANEOUS MONDAY 12.17

1 This full moon on a chalkboard wall is so adorable. I kind of want it for myself.

2 This pretty manicure with gold sparkle accent nail is just my style. I usually don't sparkle my nails, but this looks pretty for a unique holiday mani.

3 These felt acorns are so cool. Hang these on a gift bag to add a little handmade touch!

1 It's the year of the pom pom! This pom pom garland by the amazing Ashley G is so fun. Perfect for a unique holiday decoration that you could keep up year round. Reminds me of this anthropologie scarf which I looove the colors of.
2 Speaking of the year of... the Pantone color of the year for 2013 is Emerald Pantone 17-5641. Be on the lookout for everything in this hot hue next year. Pantone's color of the year influences just about everything. I'm feeling it!
3 I want this cake and I want it now! I must be craving cake, but seriously, how clever is that frosting job? Definitely doing this!
4 These boot stuffers from the Jessie Randall, creative director of the Loeffler Randall, are such an amazing idea and really cute if you have to leave your shoes in plain view. After all it is the year of the pom pom like I said, right? These will help your boots keep their shape and stand up straight and look tidy. Win!

DAILY DISHONESTY

Okay, let's face it, we all lie to ourselves sometimes. Graphic Designer and Illustrator Lauren Hom launched Daily Dishonesty and it is so spot on. She creates these hand lettered lies we tell ourselves every day (the lettering is way more glamorous than the lie though!) She also has guest posts. Society6 has always been a great spot to find really unique iPhone cases and art work from independent artists. They have taken it to a whole new level now with throw pillows. I think I have such an obsession with throw pillows for this exact reason, they are like little works of art. I spent way too long looking through them and here are six pieces of art I like for the couch (not all together, that would be a mess). If you appreciate beautiful skies, clouds, and sunsets you will love photographer Matt Molloy's work. He takes hundred of photos from time lapse video and layers them on top of each other to create beautiful painting-like images. I can totally relate to wanting to take hundreds of pictures of an awesome sunset, but I never would have thought of layering them on top of each other! EYE FEAST {DIETLIND WOLF}

Sometimes pictures of food can make you drool and other times, like at small pizza joints, the menu photos make you question if you could survive without food. These photographs styled and illustrated by Dietlind Wolf delight both my eyes and my stomach. The simple colorful watercolor illustrations behind make the food pop off the page. I have no idea what any of this food is, but somehow want it all. Bravo for making me hungry!

I stumbled upon Zoe Pawlak's work on Pinterest and immediately wanted to see more. The way she sees landscapes is how I wish we all viewed the world. Rather, how I wish the world actually looked. So serene and tranquil looking. I would love to own a piece of her art, just to gaze into when feeling stressed or needing a break.

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays! I'm sure we have all eaten way too much and possibly cooked and baked more than we ever wanted to. Let's sit back, take a break from the kitchen, and just look at this sweet typography by Nina Harcus. This handmade food typography is from a recipe book that follows the story of a Patisserie Chef that falls in love with typography. I can barely measure a cup of flour without covering my entire front let alone create something so beautiful. Best of all looking at this in awe requires no work and is calorie free. Cheers to that!

This is too cute for words. Super creative mom Adele Enersen originally created Mila's daydreams, a series of photos of her baby sleeping soundly with household objects arranged carefully around her to create elaborate depictions of her dreams. Adele is now mom to a new little one, Vincent. Vincent has fantastical dreams too, but his are much simpler with just a pen and some doodles. Sometimes he's DJ'ing other times hes doing a rain dance. So darn clever.

I am totally not a holiday card person, or a card person at all for that matter, but I am a fan of super simple graphics. I am head over heels for these cards by Erin Jang for Paperless Post. 4 When I saw this heavenly colored church over on Plenty of Colour I was amazed. Artist Alex Brewer also known as HENSE created this bold mural on an old historic church in Washington, D.C. His use of color is incredible. It's like a technicolor dream. Simply put this church is heavenly to look at.

HAPPY FRIDAY {GET COMFY}

Fact: I hate being cold. As soon as it's below 50 about 75% of what I say is "I'm freezing". With our first nine inches falling this week, it's time to accept that winter is on the way. Bummer. New England is very unpredictable, so here are my must haves to be prepared for chilly days ahead to make me a little less miserable.

1 There's something about this Sheinside geometric sweater that just looks so cozy. I want to put this on and sit in front of a fire with some warm cocoa. Just seems right.

2 These J.Crew saturday pants look like the perfect weekend pant. Comfortable but not sloppy. I'll take one in each color and lounge around all weekend.

3 This J.Crew polka dot snood looks so soft and warm. I can't live without a scarf of some sort when it gets cold out and I can't live without polka dots, so this is a must have!

4 I need these Modcloth gloves because, well, I need my iPhone like I need my arm, regardless of the weather. The color and little ruffle are just an added bonus.

5 When it gets cold I love to stay in and bake. These Anthropologie hedgehog measures are too adorable to resist. Perhaps I can bake these!
